At last, the old regional data vignette is replaced, NEWS updated, and old correspondence tables are removed.
The regions 0.1.7 is on CRAN, and takes over all functionality much better, but it has a big performance bottleneck. It will be replaced with regions 0.1.8 very soon, which will make the new functionality work at normal speed.
