Well, I have no idea what's better because I don't know the language. Just pinging @taammanhoi here, who did the current translation. Any others who can comment on this?

I don't doubt that. :) But I assume that @taammanhoi is a native speaker, too. In the same way as I respect and appreciate your translations, I respect the ones he provided, so I at least want to give him the chance to comment. You understand what I mean? I want to use the best translations, but I have no way to judge. If any other native speaker can confirm that either translation is better, that would help as well.

@taammanhoi 不好意思,可能用詞上的因素的關係,比較像是字體轉換了但並不是真的翻譯

Original translation is not a real translation of zh-TW,
just like the convertion of each characters from simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese,
but the term of the words didn't been translate.

@rovo89
I recognize @PeterDaveHello as he contributed to Git Cola's zh-tw translation which is currently mostly maintained by me.

The only obvious issue of @taammanhoi 's previous translation is that it uses zh-cn localized terms instead of zh-tw ones(which we still can read them so it's still valid translation before some zh-tw native speaker like @PeterDaveHello replace them)

Therefore:

  • IMO @taammanhoi 's translation is not "poor", just not localized enough for zh-tw locale and is mostly patched by @PeterDaveHello by this pull request
  • It is sane to use "zh-* translations converted from zh-cn/*" as long as there's no native speaker translator at the moment.
  • Expect further pull request to zh-tw translation as I just noticed another project I can localize on ;)
