Error format strings would stop code being compiled for errors if they failed to contain markers used in pretty-printing the error message, such as a line number marker %l.

Fixes #23

Error format strings would stop code being compiled for errors if they
failed to contain markers used in pretty-printing the error message,
such as a line number marker.

This has been changed to allow that these markers don't exist in the
error format string. Valid strings should no longer fail silently.

This may also fix #31 , but I can't test that.
